The students had an amazing time at the Fall Social on Friday night, enjoying themselves with great music, fun activities, and plenty of laughter. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who helped make the social such a great success! Your time, effort and dedication truly made a difference. Your support made the event memorable for everyone. The latest brand loyalty rivalry at Willow Creek is over the two water bottle giants: Stanley V. Owala Stanley's have a better handle, but they've also been known to leak and spill. Owala's are lighter to carry in a backpack and have a better spout, but maybe they don't keep your drinks as cold as other water bottles. Regardless, we're happy to see our kids staying hydrated and having fun with their choice of beverage vessel!

P-TECH is hosting an Information Night for all RPS 8th grade students and their parents/caregivers. P-TECH is a partnership program between RPS, RCTC, Mayo Clinic, and IBM. Designed to get RPS students a two-year certification at their RPS graduation, 8th grade students can enroll in a nursing or IT pathway to start their career development in high school. "Ms. Bork, along with her 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Spanish Immersion students, honored Veterans Day on November 11, by recognizing the bravery, dedication, and selfless service of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, who defend the freedoms we hold dear." The 8th grade students at Willow Creek were at the STEAM Summit. This event offered a hands-on experience with various career paths, especially in science, technology, and healthcare. Kids had the opportunity to interact with professionals and explore the tools of the trade, such as operating an ultrasound machine or learning how an MRI scanner works. This gave them a tangible sense of what these careers entail, beyond just reading about them. With a diverse range of organizations—from healthcare leaders like Mayo Clinic to local law enforcement and universities—students gained a broad perspective on the many career opportunities available to them.

Winter will be here soon, and we want to share our procedures with you should we have an unexpected school closing. What's at stake for RPS in this referendum? If the Ignite Student Learning referendum is approved, additional funding will support academic programs and student services, maintain class sizes and vocational training, and protect faculty and staff positions. If rejected, major budget cuts will lead to the closure of three schools, increased class sizes, reduced staffing, and diminished programs for academic growth and vocational training. A reminder that there is no school on Tuesday, November 5. Teachers and administrators will participate in a Curriculum Planning Day, planning instruction and participating in professional development. We will see students back in school on Wednesday, November 6.
